Two cars were stolen from Asharoken Avenue driveways, and cash was stolen from a third vehicle in the village overnight last week, police have confirmed.
Suffolk County Police said three separate incidents transpired along Asharoken Avenue “sometime overnight” between July 16-17 with stolen cars, cash and a crash all transpiring at one point or another.
First, police said, a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was broken into and stolen.
Then, about a mile up the neck along Asharoken Avenue, a 2012 Toyota Prius, parked in a driveway, was stolen and then later involved in a crash, police said.
According to Asharoken PD Officer-in-Charge Raymond Mahdesian, the crash occurred near Asharoken Beach.
Finally, a 2013 Chevrolet was broken into, police said, nearly a half-mile further up the road. Police are unsure whether the vehicle was unlocked or not, and said an unspecified amount of money was taken from it.
Mahdesian said that the Suffolk County PD is investigating the incidents.
Anyone with further information regarding these cases is asked to anonymously call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-8477 (TIPS). All calls will remain confidential.
