Manor Field Park in Huntington Station was packed with local residents on Tuesday for the annual “National Night Out” sponsored by the Suffolk County Police Department, Huntington Station Business Improvement District (BID), Huntington Opportunity Resource Center and Target.

In between bites of hot dogs and bounces on an inflatable bounce house, residents were greeted by Town Supervisor Frank Petrone, Legislator William Spencer (D-Centerport), Councilwoman Susan Berland and a few others who thanked all those in attendance for supporting the push to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness while generating support for local anti-crime efforts.

Family Service League, Applebee’s and United Healthcare were just a few other agencies and businesses to make it out and line the park with vendor tables or provide some of the tools for the fun.

Dolores Thompson, longtime member of Leadership Huntington’s President’s Council, and Second Precinct Officer Claudia Delgado served as organizers for the event.

The star of the show, though, as Thompson said, was a Suffolk County helicopter, which gave a flyby and some waves to the nearly 100 people who made it out to the celebration.
