Obituary listings for the Town of Huntington.

Antonina Cianciabella

Antonina “Nina” Cianciabella, 88, died March 8 in Northport. She was 88.

Born in Misilmeri, Italy, she was a longtime resident of Lodi, N.J. and had family in Northport.

She was born to her parents, the late Joseph and Ninetta Agnello, and lived with her family in Misilmeri where she was educated before moving to Palisades Park, N.J. in 1958. In New Jersey, she and her husband, Mario, lived in Garfield and then Lodi where she became a member of the St. Joseph Parish.

Her family said she loved singing opera, cooking and was very devoted to God, Padre Pio and her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Rosanne and her husband Thomas Fischer of Northport; her grandson, Tommy; and her 11 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband.

Arrangements were made by Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home in Northport on March 12. A funeral Mass was held at St. Philip Neri Church in Northport on March 13 with an interment that followed at the parish cemetery.

Margaret Schmiedecke

Margaret M. Schmiedecke, a longtime resident of Huntington Station, died March 12. She was 101.

For 89 years she lived in the same Huntington Station home, her family said, and she was an honorary member of the Suffolk County Senior’s Fishing Club. She retired from the Huntington School District in 1983.

She is survived by her children, Margaret and Robert (Deborah Knoblauch); and her grandchildren, Jeremiah, Megan, Christine and Jacqueline. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank.

Arrangements were made by A.L. Jacobsen Funeral Home in Huntington Station on Sunday and Monday. An interment followed on Monday at the Melville Cemetery.

Lisa McNamara

Lisa McNamara, a resident of Huntington Station, died March 11. She was 50.

Born in Bayside, N.Y., she was the beloved wife of Glenn.

Along with her husband, she is survived by her children, Melody and Jonathan; parents, Felix Cavaliere and Ruby Toy; brother, Joseph; and nieces and nephews, Nicky, Cassandra and Samantha.

Arrangements were made by M. A. Connell Funeral Home in Huntington Station on Saturday. A funeral service was held the next day at the funeral home.

Helen Giacopelli

Helen Giacopelli, a resident of Dix Hills, died March 9. She was 95.

Born in New York, N.Y., she is survived by her son James and his wife Valerie; her grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Joy, Courtney, Nick and Brian; and her great-grandchildren, Gustave, Timothy, Christopher and Jacob. She was predeceased by her son Matthew.

Arrangements were made by M. A. Connell Funeral Home in Huntington Station on March 10. A funeral Mass was held on March 11 at St. Hugh of Lincoln R. C. Church in Huntington Station with an interment that followed at Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn.

Memorial contributions in her name can be made to the charity of your choice.
