Lady Wildcats Honored At Suffolk Awards Dinner

After a successful season that continued the Walt Whitman High School basketball program’s streak of playoff appearances, members of the Lady Wildcats squad were honored early last month during the annual Suffolk County Section XI awards dinner.

Along with receiving the Section XI Sportsmanship Award for League II, which Whitman finished this season in second place with a 10-4 record, several Lady Wildcats also received individual honors.

Junior guard Rose Pedretti, senior forward Sarah Olsen, sophomore guard Rosa Portaro and sophomore guard Brittney Coleman all received All-League honors over the course of the night.

Abigail Daniels, a senior forward, was awarded Academic All-County honors as well.

Dan Trebour, head coach of the varsity squad, was given a milestone award for reaching 200 wins over the course of his career and coach Ed Garrone received the Junior Varsity Coach of the Year award.
