Gus Zeis

Gus F. Zeis, a resident of Centerport, died May 16. He was 77.

The loving husband of the late Carole M., he was also an ex-chief and former commissioner of the Centerport Fire Department.

He is survived by his son, Michael and his wife Kristin, his grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Samantha, and his siblings, Priscilla Jahier, Randy, Thomas, Wayne and Darrell. Along with his wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Pamela Alice Zeis.

Arrangements were made by Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home in Northport on Tuesday. Firematic service were held that at the funeral home later that night. A funeral was held on Wednesday and an interment was made at Calverton National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in his name can be made to L.I. State Veterans Home at 100 Patriots Road, Stony Brook, N.Y. 11790-3300.

Linda Rusy

Linda M. Rusy, of Huntington, died May 13. She was 71.

She was the beloved wife of the late Andrew.

She is survived by her children, Thomas Rusy and his wife Jennifer, Daniel Rusy, and Jeanette and her husband Chris Leonard; and her grandchildren, John and Anna and Elise and Milena.

Arrangements were made by Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home in Northport on Sunday. A funeral service was held at the funeral home on Monday with Rev. Dr. Luonne Rouse presiding. An interment followed at the Northport Rural Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in her name can be made to United Methodist Church of Huntington-Cold Spring Harbor at 180 West Neck Road, Huntington, N.Y. 11743.

Maria Hlavaty

Maria Hlavaty, a former resident of Huntington, died May 11. She was 63.

Born in Czechoslovakia, she was also a resident of Riverhead.

She is survived by her children, John and his wife Michele, and James; her grandchildren, Maria and Angela; and her sibling, Toni and her husband Steve Stefek. She was predeceased by her brother, Stefan Valović.

Arrangements were made by M.A. Connell Funeral Home in Huntington Station on May 14. A funeral Mass was held on Friday at St. Patrick’s Church in Huntington.
