Wildcats of today’s Walt Whitman High School and yesteryear’s were honored Tuesday night as the Wildcat Booster Club assembled its annual sports awards ceremony at the Woodbury Country Club.
Twenty-one Wildcats were honored as Gold Key awardees for their participation in at least eight sports in nine season, starting from 10th grade and throughout their careers at Walt Whitman. Walt Whitman also had 16 Wildcats honored with the 2015 Booster Club scholarship for their work in distinguishing themselves in a variety of successful athletic, leadership and academic endeavors.
As for the athletes of Walt Whitman’s past, six inductions to the school’s athletic hall of fame were made as a part of the seventh annual class – including the members of Walt Whitman’s 1974 Rutgers Cup football team.
