Well, that’s all she wrote, folks.

Sure, there’s still one week left in the National Football League’s 2014-2015 campaign, but your fantasy leagues should be over and done with. Just in case you’re new, let me explain: Most fantasy football leagues have their championships in week 16 because it’s mostly guaranteed that teams will still be playing their starters. Once week 17 comes around, most of the games are useless – as playoff seeds have mostly been determined – and teams tend to not play, or not fully play, their studs.

So, instead, let’s take a look back at Coach RowBlessKey’s rookie campaign in the final week of “The Fantasy Corner.” Continue reading The Fantasy Corner — Week 17

This is it, ladies and gentleman – the moment you’ve all been waiting for: championship week.

Are you still competing? You just might be if you had listened to me; last week was a great one for picks with my start ’ems putting up 47 points to my sit ’ems 30 in ESPN standard scoring. TE Antonio Gates (11 points) was a standout starter, while TE Andrew Quarless (0 points) put up an egg on my bench.

Let’s keep it up this week and get you that title with my final picks of the season: Continue reading The Fantasy Corner — Week 16

Survive and advance; hopefully most of you were able to utilize that mentality last week as the playoffs began. Me? Well, I’d rather not talk about it.

As of last week, I’m no longer competing for anything in my league and – to make matters worse – my picks were negative for the first time since week 8. QB Matt Ryan and RB C.J. Anderson blew up on my bench and WR Jarvis Landry and RB Frank Gore were duds as two of my starters.

But you’re still in the playoffs. You still have a chance to win it all – and that’s what I’m here for. Let’s get back on track with this week’s picks: Continue reading The Fantasy Corner — Week 15

Playoffs are upon us. That’s right, folks, after 13 long weeks, the moment we’ve been building up to is here. Did you make the cut?

You might have if you’ve been listening to me – I have had five-straight positive weeks, dating back to week 9, and my start ‘ems have been outscoring my sit ‘ems by a total of 274-193 during that time.

Last week, QB Matthew Stafford, WR Odell Beckham Jr. and D/ST Texans all proved to be great picks, while QB Jay Cutler, WR Mike Evans and D/ST Chiefs all collected dust on the bench.

Let’s focus on this week now – and let’s start with the picks: Continue reading The Fantasy Corner — Week 14

Gobble, gobble; it’s time for me to eat some turkey – but don’t worry, I’m not taking a week off from my picks.

As far as last week’s picks go, it’s a bit hard to say exactly how I did considering this article was written on Monday before the final two games of the week were played. But, from what I do know, WR Josh Gordon is still a beast – he put up 12 points in ESPN standard scoring and could have done even more damage if his quarterback was a bit better. Sitting QB Drew Stanton was also a smart call – the Arizona quarterback put up just 149 yards through the air and also threw an interception.

Anyway, it’s turkey time so let’s get to the picks: Continue reading The Fantasy Corner — Week 13

Three positive weeks in a row – that’s a new record for Coach RowBlessKey.

Sure, it may not have been the flashiest of weeks, but my sit ‘em calls were absolutely on point. For the second time this season, I kept my bench under 30 points – they put up just 27 points in ESPN standard scoring. QB Matthew Stafford was a wreck (5 points); WR Larry Fitzgerald was nonexistent (3 points); and I think TE Antonio Gates (3 points) forgot he had a game on Sunday.

On the flipside, WR Antonio Brown (15 points) bounced back nicely – just like I said he would.

Week 12 is up next and that means the playoffs are drawing ever closer, so let’s take a peek at this week’s picks: Continue reading The Fantasy Corner — Week 12

Coach RowBlessKey is back; Week 10 was my highest scoring yet.

My start ’ems put up a whopping 85 points in ESPN standard scoring and blew away my sit ’ems, which came in with 36 points.

I picked the week’s second best defense and tight end in D/ST Cardinals (27 points) and TE Julius Thomas (18 points); a top-five wide receiver in WR Kelvin Benjamin (19 points); and a top-10 kicker in K Steven Hauschka (8 points).

On the other end, WR Sammy Watkins, RB Lamar Miller, TE Delanie Walker and K Billy Cundiff combined for a measly 11 points as the core of my bench.

My best week yet and we’re only a week removed from the halfway mark of the season. That all being said, I should also mention that through 10 weeks my overall scoring has come out to 502-480 in favor of my start ‘ems. Not bad, not bad.

Anyway, let’s get rolling with the picks for week 11: Continue reading The Fantasy Corner — Week 11

Last week my starters outscored my bench 46-36 – not a big difference, but I did have some good picks.

WR Percy Harvin was the centerfold of a struggling New York Jets’ offense as he put up 12 standard fantasy points – his first time in double-digits this season.

As for my bench, QB Michael Vick looked miserable, RB Branden Oliver was a no-show – along with TE Heath Miller – and the Redskins defense put up a big ol’ 0 in standard leagues.

Good stuff; let’s move on to week 10’s picks Continue reading The Fantasy Corner — Week 10

Picking a top-10 kicker isn’t much to brag about – K Adam Vinatieri finished last week with 10 points. But calling to sit WR Torrey Smith and D/ST Buccaneers – which combined for 1 total point – has to be worth something, right?

Anyway, week 9 is about to roll around and the playoff push is starting to emerge in leagues around the country. Be sure to pick up WR Josh Gordon and RB Ryan Matthews, if you haven’t already – both could be key contributors in weeks 14-16.

For now, let’s get to this week’s picks: Continue reading The Fantasy Corner — Week 9

I got knocked down, but boy did I get up again.

Last week my start ’ems outscored my sit ’ems 74-46 in ESPN standard scoring. WR Randall Cobb had an enormous day to make himself the No. 4 wide receiver of the week and the Buffalo Bills found themselves in the same position as the No. 4 defense of the week.

Some great calls last week, so let’s keep it up this week: Continue reading The Fantasy Corner — Week 8
